Love has been the theme of almost every lesson God has taught me over the past two years. Love is what caused my heart to break, but it has been God’s love that picked me back up, restored every broken piece of my heart and love is what is drives me forward everyday. Today, God is teaching me how to walk in the same love He has shown me.
While studying the Gospel of John I came to the famous 3:16 verse we all know and love. “For God so loved the world, he gave his only Son, that whoever believer in him should not perish but have eternal life.” There are many things to focus on in this verse, but while I studying it I focused on Gods action being based in love. I discovered everything God does is rooted in love. His patience, grace, mercy, and guidance are all base on His love for humanity. Gods love is true and the most pure. When I am able to love correctly I have a form of God acting out of me. The root of Gods actions is love, the root of my actions is God, therefore it is love perfected in me that I act out of. John, in is his first letter puts it this way…
“God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God and God abides in him. but this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgement because as he is so also are we in this world… We love because he first loved us.” 1 john 4:16-19
God’s love is patient and kind, it does not envy or boast, it is not arrogant or rude, Gods love never ends. 1 Cor 13. One of our greatest commandments is to love one another. I am learning that my heart pumps an overflowing amount of love each day. A love that will become the base and foundation of my future ministry and my future marriage, but right now it is a love I am learning to walk in every day. God has taught me several things over the years, but love has been the promenade, deepest, hardest and joyful lesson of all. I love love and I love you! Yay!
First actual blog post on my new blog.. ooooh this is exciting!
This summer has been filled with so much joy, love, and learning. God has not let this time past without teaching me what it is like to trust Him and to be committed to our relationship.
Last fall during my DTS, I went to church and listened to a sermon about being “all in for God”. I laughed then only because the pastor repeated the phrase “Go all in” about 400 times during the service. At that moment I figured everyone got his point, but almost six months later, I am finally understanding his point.
Being in a relationship with God and walking out a christ like lifestyle is a everyday choice that takes commitment. In order to have a strong foundation you need to go all in, everyday, through the good and the bad. You have to commit yourself and remain faithful. Through our faithfulness, we give God the opportunity to reveal Himself in news ways and we are able to recognize His hand in our life.
I am obviously not married, but I like to compare my relationship with God to a marriage or a relationship. From what I’ve observed and learned as a single, third party (third wheel) individual to different relationships, including marriage, I’ve noticed that they all take commitment, time to develop and strengthen, and a lot of trust. When you remain faithful through the good and bad, your relationship strengthen, but you need to be all in, all the time.
God doesn't make sense most of the time. He is more counter-culture then I am, and that is saying something. My decision to move to Montana has been a test of my relationship with God. About a month ago, I had a huge wave of doubt about this decision. I was hit with the truth of all the things that were stacked up against my life choices. But in the end, I stood by my decision to go to Montana, even if it didn't make sense. Only reasoning was because God had told me to go. It may not make sense on paper, but God has a plan. When I put my trust in Him I feel His love, I see His grace and mercy, and I become more confident in who I am and what I am here to do. If I didn’t take the time to get to know God, trust Him, and remain faithful I wouldn't know where I would be.
In the book Abba’s Child by Brennan Manning, he writes
“In out willingness to stand fast, our refusal to run away and escape into self-destructive
behavior, we are able to see the life-giving spirit of the risen Lord. Resurrection power enables us to engage in the savage confrontation with untamed emotions, to accept the pain, receive it, take it on board, however acute it may be. And in the process we discover that we are not alone, that we can stand fast in awareness of resent ripeness and so become fuller, deeper, richer disciples. We know ourselves to be more that we previously imagined. In the process we not only endure but are forced to expand the boundaries of who we think we really are!”
Being faithful to God and trusting His word takes a lot of courage. If we were one foot in with God we could back out at any moment. leaving us confused and hurt. When we removed ourselves from God, we take away our ability to see God through the trails. We take away His chance to take the bad and make it good. If we commit ourselves to God, just like a good husband or wives committees to their husband, you work through the trials. Through each hardship comes strength within the relationship. It has stood the test, taught us a lesson, and given us a chance to heal and grow. Choosing God everyday is not the easiest choice, and sometimes it doesn't make sense, but the blessings on the other side of trust and courage is everything you are looking for.
God has revealed all of this through past relationships and moments that allow me to notice how far I have come and the strength I have gained. I am overwhelmed with love and joy when I feel Gods presence in my life. It’s been a beautiful journey and I am excited to see where God takes me next.
Hello, and welcome to the blog portion of my website!
To those of you who have followed me from the beginning and to the ones who have just started I am so blessed to have you by my side and thankful for your caring heart.
Blogging has definitely challenged me in all sorts of new ways. I give mad praise to the people who are able to communicate thoughts, feelings and experiences so well on paper. I don’t know if it comes easily for them but it absolutely does not for me. Usually I get frustrated or overwhelmed halfway through a new post and give up. A lot of the things I am trying to communicate are new thoughts or life changing experiences that I am still processing. To put them into words for you to understand has been a challenge for me but I WILL NOT QUIT!! I want nothing more then for you guys to be a part of my journey and life. If that means I have to discipline myself to write a blog post for you then that is what I will do. I have learned so much in the past year about God, my faith, myself and the direction my life is going and its only the beginning. I want to be able to share everything with you on a transparent surface.
From this day forward, to who knows when I commit to keeping you updated. Feel free to keep me accountable, if you haven't heard from me in awhile please reach out to me! I am going on this crazy adventure called life with God as my director and I am so excited to see where I go, what I learn, the people I will meet and the stories I get to share! Having you by my side means the world and I can’t thank you enough!! I appreciate all the love and support so much!
Stay tuned for stories, photos and everything good coming!
So much love!
